The Air Jordan VI was released in late 1990 early 1991, and Tinker Hatfield created another instant classic. The shoe features a rubber tongue with has two holes in it which the bearer can easily put the shoes on. The clear soles and the lace locks were the best Jordan brought back from the Air Jordan V. If you look at the shoe at a side angle you can see the figure 2 standing up on the back of the shoe and the figure 3 lying down facing the ground close to the laces.
 
 On the Air Jordan 6 Michael Jordan gave direct orders to have a clean toe, so Tinker Hatfield made sure the Air Jordan VI had a reinforcement around the toe, making the Nike Air Jordan VI the first basketball model to obtain this. The Air Jordan Retro 6 was released for the 1990-91 season. This season and this shoe was part of a defining moment for Michael Jordan and all of the Air Jordans.To celebrate the defining moment of Jordan's first championship, Nike released a commemorative Black/Gold Air Jordan 6 packaged with a White/Black/Gold Jordan 11 sold as the "Defining Moments Package".
